Meet The Team
This is Dodge, the studio manager. She is a busy girl and absolutely loves to help with all things related to art and shoe making. A firm fan of soft leather, she likes to nibble the corners. At her request we keep a little scrap for her assess the quality.  She is also grand master of catching ribbons, and loves company - so she may pop in and supervise while I teach. This is her favourite basket, commandeered often for her nap break. The fabric beneath her is my Azalea design in super soft velvet which I've used to cover the ottoman and may also make some ballet shoes from.  After all, we do love pink!
This little treasure is my shy girl, beautiful Baby Bean!
Dodge's sister, she's my little cuddle bug and HR manager. Always checking in on me, she likes to remind me that cuddles are far more important than whatever else I'm doing, and I need to take a break now and then in order to be happy and efficient.
She's quite right of course, I'm way more productive when I'm healthy and well rested! She's a wise little one. And besides, who doesn't love a nap next to a tiny cuddly panther?!
In all seriousness though, this is usually where I work - at home on my dining room table! You don't need tonnes of space to make your shoes, just a few simple tools and the right size shoe last for the project. I didn't even tidy up - so you can get an honest view of the space and messiness when I'm making things. I have ballet flats, pink low heel courts, iridescent scalloped block heels and stilettos all in progress here.
I have a very ickle house, so only run one-on-one sessions from home. We rent a couple of lovely spaces for workshops with plenty of room to play and move around the room - end extra power sources too - one plug socket would not cut the mustard! But if you'd like to just get cracking on your own, check out my recommendations for shoe making essentials - make a wish list and start building your tool kit! You can do it! I believe in you!
Much love, Emma x
